rhcp

*WARNING: A VERY VERY LONG ENTRY*

yes. finally i am blogging about IT.

my virgin RHCP concert!

on another note, i've also been to the john mayer concert but it's kind of being overshadowed by rhcp - not because it's less than lacklustre than the latter & on the contrary i'd rate the John Mayer concert better than rhcp (more on that later, see i can't stop rambling now) but because i've been a rhcp fan for soooooooooooooo long.

and i must HAO LIAN again. i think i've grown to be such a good photographer. look at the photos i've done! My immediate near future goal is to sell my camera - and buy a better one with like 30x optical zoom. haha. anyway, my digressing stops here.

let the pictures speak the millions of words i wanna say.

The hot guy in pink is Fab Moretti (Fabrizio Moretti). Doesnt ring a bell? He plays the drums for The Strokes. He was there at the RHCP concert with HAR MAR SUPERSTAR - the opening act for the RHCP Stadium Arcadium Tour. Who's HAR MAR SUPERSTAR? Another white guy who raps.

a little older.

a little fatter.

ok............... ALOT fatter.

and a little more controversial. Australians find his act done in bad taste but i just find him amusing because i have a good sense of humour. :-)

He later on went on to strip down to his underwear - gyrating and thrusting at the audience. you have to be there to even remotely understand what i am saying. Being amused is such an understatement. Anyway the main point of this entry is RHCP. Of course i like to see the opening act which explains why i always go there earlier than most ang mohs, they dont give a hoot about the opening act unless it's someone they know.

well har mar superstar is HANDPICKED by RHCP so they must've seen something in this fat old bloke who raps. Yes, did i forget to mention? He's a rapper yo.

Now the real thing..........

Flea is my hero! He sang A SONG - i dunno what. After humming it to quite a few people in australia and singapore, nobody seems to be able to answer me. I got an answer from my stupid sis who thinks she's damn smart she knows. LOVE IT WHEN U CALL BY THE FEELING. but it's not. cos i downloaded the song. and it is NOT.

i realised i have taken a couple of good shots of the band - not chad smith though cos he's at the back playing his drums very much often blocked by the energetic band.

John Frusciante keeps giving that look - that i can only describe as "orgasmic" literally without sounding too obscene. Give it a guess and let me know if you want me to describe more.

a lot of misgivings about this concert.

FUCKING ALOT OF MISGIVINGS.

THEY DID NOT PLAY SCAR TISSUE.

that's like THE SONG i have to hear! :-(

cos that's the first rhcp song of mine.

then they didnt play Californication.

That's the first rhcp song i educated to CJY.

and they didn't play under the bridge. :-( like super classic can.

they didnt play parallel universe - apparently they didnt play much of this song in their tour, if at all. cos dann hume of evermore went to catch them too but he was "gutted" they didnt play parallel universe.

SO I CAN WHINE AND GROAN ABOUT HOW SUCKY THE CONCERT IS.

OR................

MARVEL AND RELISH IN DELIGHT AT HOW CLOSE I AM TO ACCOMPLISHING MY GOAL IN LIFE.

:-)

i DID GET CAN'T STOP. (WHOOHOO!)

They played By The Way - which to many, was the best song of the nite.

They played GIVE IT AWAY as an encore - that was the best song of the nite in my non-humble opinion.

i don't understand why we have to be humble when we have opinions.

they played FORTUNE FADED. (there you go....)

and they played a whole string of songs from their latest album.

only two songs i KNOW - dani california & Snow (Hey Oh).

both i liked to a mediocre extent.

i didnt even buy the latest album - will eventually buy it but not now cos im broke.

the point in the concert is to hear the songs that accompanied me growing up LIVE.

all their new songs had absolutely no meaning for me at this point in time. they might in future but not now.

so it meant alot to me if they'd sung Scar Tissue. Arrgh, so sad after the concert.

Cos they played Scar Tissue, Californication & Under The Bridge during their debut Melbourne gig.

But i've moved on. Coldplay did it once with TROUBLE. (if you hit on my July 2007 archives you can read about it)

Lesson learnt?

Have enough money to go for all the shows they're playing in that particular city. They played 3 nights in Melbourne - i of course only had $ to go for only ONE.

Before going to the show I googled for news on the opening act and chanced upon an article that reviewed RHCP's first melbourne gig on april 8. I was damn excited to read that they played scar tissue and all that stuff. stuff that i was expecting to hear.

Then of course, i didnt hear them.

Then i went to do a search on the internet and found this April 8 Setlist that RHCP played during their first melbourne gig.

Intro Jam
Can't Stop
Dani California
Scar Tissue
Charlie
Readymade
Throw Away Your Television
This Velvet Glove
John Solo (For Emily??)
Snow
Nobody Weird Like Me
Wet Sand
Right On Time
Don't Forget Me
Hump De Bump
Californication
By The Way
---
Trumpet Jam
Under The Bridge
Give It Away
Outro Jam

--- fuck lor, according to sources, they only played UNDER THE BRIDGE ONCE.

and they played it in Melbourne's first gig. ARRGH!!!

Therefore, i must earn enough money to be able to afford at least 75% of their shows if not all. To ensure the experience is complete.

Never mind, i am now back in sillypore - so i shouldnt complain.

So there you go.

and here i am, too broke but too happy.

people get shocked or surprised and finds it unbelievable to find that i actually travelled all the way to australia to watch the concert.

well, firstly, it's not ALL THE WAY. if i travelled to LA or NY - then it's called ALL THE WAY.

we're only 7 hours away from down under. and it's not like im unfamiliar with the place.

it is quite daring, brave and whatever your adjective is - for me to travel on my own to watch a bloody concert. and the first expressions will be: you siao ah. or you sibei bo liao.

expressions that i abhor but i do not blame. because people are quick to judge.

i think what i did is no different from the guy who bought a BMW 5 series and had to eat bread for breakfast and dinner. he skips lunch to save money on the bread so he could pump petrol.

only my purpose & cause is more noble cos i am doing this for nobody but myself. that bmw guy is doing it for himself but it is to satisfy man's intrinsic desire to be superior (i have devised a theory on superiority which i am too eager to share so shall post it in my next entry when my thoughts are more settled).

as much as i am excited and happy about my trip - i hesitate to share with friends who are not close. because people are quick to judge. it is sad but it is in people's nature to judge. therefore i do not blame.

my dream - since i was little - well, in my teens - is to attend the concerts of all the heroes who have grown with me and was there for me when i didnt have CJY.

I went on this trip by myself without CJY cos he's got work commitments. My dream has to go on with or without him.

people often ask, why you want to travel alone?

i do, not because i want to, but because I CAN.

Music played an integral role in my life and many a time, i got through my tumultuous teenage years and even adulthood with music.

My dream is not to own that ferrari - but to hear Scar Tissue live - amongst other songs of course.

It is a simple dream.

It is not normal for someone in our culture and context to have such a dream.
But it does not make it SIAO or BO LIAO.

In a land where everyone's dream is to have a baby and you say your dream is to own a Lamboghini - they'd call u siao & bo liao too.

only difference is you can be 50 when you bought your lamboghini and it is not too late.

for me, time is of essence. i can't just jet sets off to a country and catch a concert over the weekend because i am not financially empowered to do so considering i WIPED OUT most of my savings for this.

and i can't be jumping around with the kids at 50? and the thing is most of the bands that i adore may not even be around when i was 50.

i am only young once. and my dream keeps me alive and inspires me to strive hard to earn enough keep to sustain my attainable dream.

the reason that keeps you going to work everyday even when you're dragging your sorry ass is that car or house or diamond or whatever item that society tells you is of prestige and status that you so desperately desire.

mine is something that money can't buy and something that no one can take it away from me.

of course it is also something to show off to the grand kids.

it does not make me any better or superior than you are as is your goal in life does not make you any better or more superior than i am.

for all the world can laugh at my dream and belittle it saying i don't have a proper goal in life thinking their goal is so much bigger (and therefore better) than mine.

i take heart in knowing that i have someone who sees right through me and supports me in almost everything that i do :) and never too quick to judge, planting a kiss everytime i frown.

nothing beats having a real confidante and that someone in life to see you through the ups & downs of life.

like i said, i'm living my dream for no one but me.

i think he agrees with me.

so long guys. thanks for reading till this point.

Albert Hammond Jr. - 101

Albert Hammond Jr. plays the guitars for the band, The Strokes. I must hao lian again, but i did catch them live in August last year. I didnt really put photos up because i was in a lousy seat and the photos werent anywhere near my RHCP, John Mayer, or Coldplay standard but that's ok.

The other guy who plays the guitars for The Strokes is Nick - and i personally think he's the better looking one.

Albert is the first one out of the strokes (not even julian) to have his own solo album and this song is quite good actually. i've heard the others, werent that great. And HMV is selling his album for SGD$37 - mother fuckers.

There you go, Albert Hammond Jr. and his debut album, Yours To Keep, and the first single: 101.

I will follow you into the dark - Death Cab for Cutie

Love of mine some day you will die
But I'll be close behind
I'll follow you into the dark

No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white
Just our hands clasped so tight
Waiting for the hint of a spark
If Heaven and Hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

In Catholic school as vicious as Roman rule
I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black
And I held my tongue as she told me
"Son fear is the heart of love"
So I never went back

If Heaven and Hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

You and me have seen everything to see
From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
It's nothing to cry about
Cause we'll hold each other soon
The blackest of rooms

If Heaven and Hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
Then I'll follow you into the dark

asian

so it's true.

all tigers are asian.

I think all DRAGONS are asian too.

We've got a dragon in our Zodiac.

Bruce Lee is synonymous with the Dragon.

The Chinese are known as the Descendants of the Dragon - Long De Chuan Ren.

So what's my point?

THAT HOLLYWOOD SHOULD STOP PRETENDING.

Pretending that they invented dragon and that dragons are ANG MOH.

Where's the proof you ask?

Harry Potter - makes all characters ang moh. even the owl. wait till i find proof that the owl is asian.

Eragon - and they made the dragon CHAR BO lor. Well a feminist would question why does a dragon have to be male just like how they would ask if God could be a female too. My point here is that Hollywood can do and say anything they want. Including telling you what a historical symbol should be.

LOTR - i cant help but think Gollum is shaped after an ugly asian. Why is he not blonde then?

Of course, my point is that we should all not take things at face value and critically think about what the surrounding has to say.

I dont plan to change anything in the world because i know i can't. But i will spread my gospel so as many people are aware of it as possible so we could all make informed decisions.

And not let people take away what is rightfully ours.

The white people invaded Australia and took it away from the aborginals - the aboriginals were the ones who owned the place not the whites. The aboriginals are slightly darker skinned and they are still a much-discriminated race in OZ and crime rate amongst them are especially high.

So the Whites took the land away from them. And they can. Because the aborignals are not half as smart and capable as the whites. NOT HALF AS SMART.

If we allow others to take away what's rightfully ours, it is only because we are not half as smart (or cunning) as them. If we can be aware of all these, we can be the ones to take things away from others.

Then you'll be able to tell the whole world that the Chinese invented sushi. Actually you might be surprised, there might be something out there that says we did. Already.

friendship

it is an alluring thing, isn't it?

and i think it is definitely the most overrated thing that ever existed in this world.

oh, maybe the second most overrated thing.

the MOST overrated thing is true love.

friendship - the ship that will never sink. well TITANIC was not supposed to sink, and i know that because i watched that damn movie 7 times so i know it is NOT supposed to sink. But it did, didnt it?

i am someone who is especially lousy atkeeping friendships alive because i hardly do any emailing (if im away) or smsing (if im around).

i have alot of pseudo-friendships, i call it.

that is we hang out - either for clubbing, for chilling, for shopping (albeit very seldom cos i like to shop alone) or for eating (which is very seldom since im not a big fan of food).

so we celebrate big occasions like CNY, XMAS or even any other public holidays that we feel like celebrating.

but there isnt any true friendships i think.

i, for one, value each and every friend i have. i dont meet up often. i might send u a belated birthday greeting instead of greeting you at 12 midnight sharp. i might not sms u often, if at all.

but at any time at all, should you need help of any kind. i'll be most willing and happy to help with means and ways that i can.

people sometimes say they cant be bothered to make new friends because it is an effort.

i make new friends all the time. i think thats because i havent any true ones to begin with so i am always looking.

well thats not entirely true because i do have a handful (not too many but just a handful) of friends whom i will classify them as true because they have let me into their world and let me experience what is called a friendship.

my thinking and thoughts on this issue is very raw at the moment so i shall stop here and will continue once my thoughts are more stable and i'll be able to write in a less incoherent manner.

:-)

big

i stumbled upon something.

"Some pple say one year of a dog's life is equivalent to seven years of man's. If that someone up there allows, I would exchange my 7 years for a year of hers."

and for this, i love you. to bits. to death.
